About the Fund

The UNITE HERE! Retirement Fund is a trust fund which consists of two pension plans – the Legacy Plan and the Adjustable Plan – through which more than 62,600 active, retired and former UNITE HERE members across 14 states are or will receive pension benefits.

The Trustees, who serve without pay, are responsible for the management of the Adjustable and Legacy Plans, including the receipt and disbursement of all money. The Fund has retained an investment advisor to assist the Trustees in selecting and monitoring the investment managers.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the pension plan funded?

The Adjustable Plan and the Legacy Plan are funded through contributions from Participating Employers pursuant to collective bargaining agreements and participation agreements. Employer that contribute to the Legacy Plan must also pay certain Rehabilitation Plan contributions. The benefits are insured in part by the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation.

What benefits does the Plan provide?

The Adjustable Plan and Legacy Plan provides monthly annuity benefits guaranteed for your lifetime if you meet certain requirements. Benefits are payable to Participants who retire at Normal Retirement, Early Retirement or to Participants who are eligible and qualify for Disability Retirement. Under the Plans, your Spouse, Domestic Partner, or Beneficiary may also be entitled to certain benefits.

How do I change my address or other contact information?

You can log in to the member portal (Coming soon) to update your address and other contact information. See the Manage Your Account page for a list of other features available on the member portal, including how to create an account. If you do not have access to the internet, you can contact the Plan Administrator at (800) 452-4155.

How do I find out what my pension payment will be when I retire?

You can contact the Plan Administrator to get an estimate of what your pension benefit will be at different ages. You can also ask for estimates for different payment options.

Who do I contact when I’m ready to retire?

Contact the Plan Administrator a few months before you want to retire to begin the application process.
